Our House, a dance narrative choreographed and directed by Alex Mitchell, premiered December 7th, 2025 at Arts On Site. Set to a dad-rock heavy tracklist, the show told the story of a family in distress with two teenage children struggling to find who they are and who they want to become. This campy exploration of home, loss and love inspired by late 70’s American culture posed universal questions to audiences like what it means to forgive and how what we learn at home ripples through our friendships and community.

Director’s Note

Our House began as a playlist of tracks I had always been inspired to create to, most of which I’d accumulated over years of car rides with my dad. I noticed a pattern in them and heard a story. My goal was to explore the ideas of family, love, loss, and change—the ways we impact each other and what it means to forgive. These themes have been a driving force of my art and personal life for as long as I can remember. I have found home in many places and people, in my chosen family and community, and ultimately within myself.

It has been so fulfilling and inspiring working with these dancers who are the heart of this show. Being in process with them has reminded me that it is always about who is on the journey with you.

A special thank you to Katie Drablos, Dan Hewson, Andrew Garvis, BDC CTP, and my loving family.
